YOUNG & DIVINE LIVE PERFORMANCE AND INTERVIEW.

So ya'll have seen me talking about the band Young & Divine from ALL-BUNNY, New York -- and tonight I got to head out and see them perform live.  Above is a video of them singing "Stranger by Day" and below is them performing my personal favorite "Shake That Bubble". Also, click here to see them perfom "Weakdays".

The band of 3, consists of Jake Mai (guitar/vocals), JP Clark(singer), and Joe Bortscheller (drums). Though they were confined to chairs in Hot topic -- I thought they did a considerably good performance! Their EP is set to debut 3/23/2010; while a full album is to be released in the summer. The band, is currently touring in a van across the country to promote their music before the album release.

I also got the chance to interview the band while they got to enjoy Subway-- which ya'll can read the highlights of  below. They were nice to chat with;you can check out the video of it here & here.

On how Young & Divine started:
"Young & Divine started when Joe B and I[JP] took a college class together [Psychology]. Joe was the only kid with a bleach blond hawk in the class, and we were both in bands at the time. I felt like we clicked over that. So we started to jam later on that year, and things went very well. We recorded an album, and shortly after our guitar player quit.
We put an ad online, and right about that time [Jake] came around."
On how the name "Young & Divine" came about:
Young & Divine comes from a song on the album "Kings" when we started the band and were in the market for a name; I thought that that was always cool. Lyrics: "We're young and divine, / With a knack for a catchy phrase / We'll never divide"
How they gained fan base & got a record deal:
We reached out a lot through Myspace through friend requests, adding people, commenting, post bulletins etc. Through Facebook, as well as word of mouth. Then we began touring, and got our songs radio tested -- which ran well.  We chose RCA records, they were the best for us.
On how they'd describe their sound:
If the All-American Rejects, Muse, and Jimmy Eats World had a baby -- that's what it [Young & Divine] would sound like.

Overall, the performances were good; and the band was really down-to-earth.  This is a great band to look out for in 2010, I have a feeling they are going big places.  I encourage you to go check them out & have a listen.
