LEGGINGS AS PANTS?

SHOULD YOU WEAR LEGGINGS AS PANTS?

The answer is ....... NO! This is a fashion no-no. Although it has seemed like a huge trend, it's not something cute. They aren't made to be worn as pants, and they look even more ridiculous with a pair of UGGS to go with them.

Leggings can be made cute when worn with the right things, such as tunics, dress shirts, a mini dress, etc. Otherwise, just stick to a pair of pants.... put away the leggings!

THONGS.

SHOULD YOU WEAR THONGS??

Thongs should be worn as a way to cover up your underwear lines, but don't mis-wear them by letting them hangout so everybody around you can see that you have a thong on !! Thongs may seem uncomfortable at first, but once you break into them it's almost like you're not wearing any underwear !! I don't recommend wearing them everyday, though.

What to wear thongs with:
Tight pants.
White pants.
Anything with thin fabrics.
Dresses.
Sweatpants.

Remember - it's very unattractive when you look at a person and all you can see is a thong riding up their back. Most likely you wouldn't like to see somebody else like that, so neither do they.

STRETCH MARKS!

DO YOU WANNA GET RID OF STRETCH MARKS?

Whether you're younger, or older .. nobody likes stretch marks. Stretch marks are like scars, so most likely you won't completely get rid of them, but with a few tips that I provide you can reduce the appearance of them. Hope this helps!

Tips:

- Use
Bio Oil! It's proven to have helped a LOT of people.
- Tanning beds reduce how much you can notice them (I personally wouldn't go this route though)
- Use Vitamin E Oil
- Stick to one solution. Do not go from one home remedy to the next – as to this might have additional side effects. Make up your mind which remedy you would like to try and stick to it for at least 6 to 12 weeks. If there are no improvements, then you can try another one.
-
Eat a well-balanced nutrient rich diet, so that you do not put on extra weight. It is vital to pay attention to the food you are consuming, as weight gain can become a cause for the occurrence of stretch marks.

HOW TO ACT ON A FIRST DATE.

MAKE A GOOD IMPRESSION ON YOUR FIRST DATE !!!

Ask a lot of questions about your date. People love to talk about themselves. Where did you go to school? How did you get that job? Where was your last vacation? Where did you grow up? How long have you lived here? BUT remember this date isn't an interview so don't over do it.

Make lots of eye contact. Shifting away from eye contact gives you away as being dishonest or insecure, or even distracted. That's a definite turn off.

Offer to pay 1/2 the bill. Be prepared to be taken up on it too! If he REALLY wants to pay for it - let him.

At the end of the date. Tell them thank you and let the person know you'd like them to see you again. A kiss is acceptable, but go no further if you want them to take you seriously, otherwise you're quick to become a one night stand.

Smile a lot. Generally, people look better smiling. Let them know you like them too by smiling. A frown is another a serious turn off.

HOW TO GET RID OF A TAN?

HOW DO I GET RID OF A TAN?

If you want to get rid of your tan for whatever reason - maybe it doesn't suit you, or you prefer to have lighter skin, I'll provide you with some helpful tips. Now remember - it isn't an easy process and won't just go away in a day or two.

Simple tips to do:
Wear sunscreen on those areas whenever you go outside.
Start exfoliating in the shower, it'll help prevent you from getting tanner there.
Try a lemon juice and cucumber juice mix to put on the skin. Dab it on the skin and let it set for 15-20 minutes. Use it a few times a week and you will see results!!

A more drastic measure to get rid of a tan gone bad is to use hydrogen peroxide. Apply a small amount with a cotton swab to the area and never leave it on for more than a minute. Wipe away with a damp cloth. The peroxide takes a while to work so do not expect immediate results. Getting desperate and using house hold beaches and cleaners (toxic substances) is going to upset and damage your skin, so stay way from them

HOW TO WEAR A DRESS WITH YOUR BODY TYPE.

GUIDE TO WEARING DRESSES W/ YOUR BODY TYPE ! ! !

Big boobs: Try a scooped neckline or a wrap-dress. A wrap will lift & separate while also drawing attention to your waist. A strapless dress with excellent support will make you look fantastic. Or try a deep v-neck dress.

Big arms: A big sleeve or one with a flare is your best bet. A loose draped sleeve will disguise the size of your arm very well, as will a small pattern (over a solid colour).

Big belly: Gathering around the stomach area will minimise the area. Anything with detailing across the stomach area will help you — a belt, a pattern, sequins etc.

Small boobs: Go for a plunging neckline (no one else can wear these) or a backless halter-neck. Look for a dress with extra detailing across the bust or something tight.

Big calves: Wear a dress all the way to the ankle, or one that ends just below the knee.

Wide shoulders: Try a strapless dress (the line will balance you out) or a shirt dress.

Big hips: The trick is to balance them out. You can do this by wearing an a-line shaped dress or something strapless.

WEDGES; A HOT THING THIS SPRING / SUMMER.

WEDGES = HOT!!

Wedge shoes can be a great look - if you can pull them off. Like any shoe, they don't look good or anybody or every outfit! They have their pros, and their cons.

PROS:
  • They add height, and are easier to walk in than stilettos.
  • Looks great with almost any length skirt or dress.

  • Wedge heels are a fashion thumbs up, so just by choosing to wear them, you up your fashion points.

  • They will add definition and shape to heavy ankles, making them appear thinner.

CONS:
  • Wedge heels are still heels, so don't try running a marathon in them or anything.

  • They can appear a bit clunky, especially when worn with very tight-fitting clothes.

  • This style tends to stray more on the casual side. There are dressier types of wedges, although they're hard to find.

  • A thick wedge heel can make an already skinny ankle, appear even skinnier.

Hot with:
  • Flowing skirts (Skirts with volume!!)
  • Bohemian styles
  • Wrap dresses
  • Wide or flared jeans / pants
  • Gauchos
  • Summer / Spring dresses.
  • Skinny jeans
Not with:
  • Pencil skirts
  • Jean skirts
  • Work clothes
  • Plaid

HAIR EXTENSIONS?!

How Versatile are Hair Extensions?

By: helen

Hair Extensions have grown to such a popularity that most celebrities are rarely seen without them. Hair Extensions are however not just limited to celebrities anymore, pretty much anyone can wear hair extensions provided they get the right type for their hair condition.

Clip in, temporary fusion, instant fusion, micro-wefts, pre-bonded and classic fusion are some of the most popular ways of attaching hair extensions. So just how versatile does this make Hair Extensions? The answer to this is very. Hair Extensions can not only be worn by a variety of different people but they can also be worn in a variety of different ways.

Are you tired of having short hair? Do you want to add length? Or maybe you want to add thickness/volume to the sides or the back of your hair due to your hair thinning or maybe a colour change is what your really after. No matter what your reason is, Hair Extensions can dramatically change the look and feel of your hair without causing any damage.

Hair Extensions have come a long way from when they were first seen back in the 80’s. The way in which Hair Extensions are placed in your hair now means that no one can tell they are there. Your stylist will blend the extensions to look completely natural, meaning the only way in which anyone will know they are there is if you tell them.

Hair Extensions are the perfect way of testing different colours on your hair. By adding slices and streaks of bold colour to your hair via Hair Extensions you will be able to see what suits you best and will save your hair the damage of being bleached. Adding colour with Hair Extensions is also the perfect way of bringing that little bit extra to an outfit for a special occasion.

Another way that makes Hair Extensions versatile is they can be used to re-correct and blend in any damage that has happened to areas of your hair. Hair Extensions can be used on sections of hair that have started to thin; bringing you volume and thickness that looks nothing but natural.

As well as extensions that add length and volume to your hair it is also possible to get Hair Extensions that are known as Drawstring Ponytails. These are used when your natural hair is tied back in a ponytail. These drawstring ponytail attachments then clip onto the natural hair in your ponytail. These extensions can be used to hide bad hair days, keep hair looking good between washes and as a quick fix when you haven’t got much time but want something different.

There is now such a wide range of colours and textures available when it comes to Hair Extension that there has never been a better time to invest in them. It is advised that if you are considering Hair Extensions that you get an appointment at your salon for a consultation so that the best type of extension as well as the best method to apply them can be agreed on by you and your stylist.

Once your Hair Extensions have been applied you can style them in a wide range of ways, whether you want to blow dry them straight or curl them with tongs, your options are limitless, you can even dye them if you feel like changing the colour of not only your extensions but your natural colour too.

When you have had your Hair Extensions applied at your desired salon your stylist will then cut and style your extensions to your desired look. Stylists also often use thinning scissors and hot razors to create a totally natural look.

EASY UPDOS.

Easy Hair Updos

By Lisa L.

Updos Updos - see Heidi Klum - are back. The nice plush updos that look like they took hours to make piling up so high upon your head are in fact very easy to do yourself. 5 Minute Makeover

First consider using hot rollers - see Salma Hayek - even if you don't want a curl. It's easy volume without having to work for it. If you can, then curl a few pieces on the top and sides with a curling iron - see Hillary Swank.

Flip your head over towards the front. With a pick or large comb tease your roots. Tease it with small fast strokes until you feel a little nest forming at your roots. Give it a little spray using JOICO’s Ice Finisher to add a little hold.
Flip your hair back and assuming your standing position with your paddle brush smooth out your hair into your desired shape.
You can use a big bristle brush if you want to see more definition in your updo. Hair SOS

Start with the back of your hair and grab a piece of hair like you’re doing a ponytail. Twist clockwise bring up and put your bobby pins in. Four to six usually do it and don’t forget to criss-cross the bobby pins if you feel you need a little support in the back of your updo. Take your top piece that’s left over and twist very lightly.

Once it is secured and you have the desired height you want on the top, pin it down with 2 bobby pins. See Reese Witherspoon. Now take each side twist it back to secure on the top building into a pile. Fix your bangs and pull any front hair back that’s been left over and secure with a bobby pin.

Spray or shape your loose ends and you have an updo that just saved you $60.

EYEBROW WAXING

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT EYEBROW WAXING.

Are you thinking of getting your eyebrows waxed.. but scared of it? Don't be! It has a little sting to it - but once you start regularly getting them done you become immune to the sting. Waxing is much better than shaving because when your hair grows back it doesn't grow back thick.

Remember before you get them done - Don't try to fix them yourself by accidentally over plucking, shaving them, or anything in such nature. Let the professionals do it. I guarantee that you will be satisfied with your eyebrows if you get them waxed! It saves you from the hassle of having to pluck them, which puts you at the risk of over plucking them.

When should you get them done again?! 3 -4 weeks is a good amount of time to wait until they're ready to get waxed again.

PIMPLES.

PROTECT YOURSELF AGAINST PIMPLES.

I don't have any miracle cure for pimples, zits, whatever you'd like to call them, but I will give you some simple tips and products that will help reduce the redness, and the amount of pimples you get.

Tips:
  • Always wash your face. (At least 2 or more times a day.)
  • Wear oil-free makeup whenever possible. These types are less likely to create a pore buildup that results in blemishes.
  • Toothpaste is another method to treat pimples from popping. You apply it just before going to bed, then wake up in the morning to find your pimple considerably smaller and more dried up than it was the earlier night. Even though it sounds weird - it works for most people!
  • Try to avoid touching your face too much - or if you do make sure your hands are clean.
  • Don't use two pimple medications at once - it'll make your face breakout more.
  • Drinking lots of water, and eating healthy food also helps.
Some products you could consider -
Noxema Clean & Clear:
http://www.cleanandclear.com/
Neutrogena:

Clearasil:

Equate Acne Treatment (Found at Wal-Mart.)
Proactiv:

Remember - Everyone's skin reacts differently to acne / pimple products, if your problem is that severe just see a professional!

REAL BEST FRIEND?

IS SHE REALLY A GOOD FRIEND?

Most people have what they call a "best friend", or that's what they think. Sure maybe you were "bffl" when you were younger - but things can change. Do you ever find yourself questioning whether she's a real friend or not?!!? Most people do.. so here are some hints on figuring out whether your friend is the real deal or not.

“What is a friend? A single soul in two bodies.” — Aristotle

Here are some traits in a person who is a real friend:

1. Honesty - No matter what, somebody who cares about you will be honest. Honesty is one of the most important things in any relationship.

2. Trust - A true friend is always there when you need to tell them something, or you have a problem you need help with. When you tell them something, they'll offer you good advice or comfort you.

3. Support - A real friend will ALWAYS be there to support you, even if it's with something they don't necessarily agree with. Or, if you get that scholarship that they wanted - they still support you.

A bad friend is somebody who:
  1. Ditches you constantly for other people.
  2. Doesn't support anything you do - because they're jealous.
  3. Makes you feel competitive. (You shouldn't feel as if you have to compete with a friend.)
  4. Goes out of their way to make you feel unwanted.
  5. Only talks to you when they want something.

DO YOU BITE YOUR NAILS?

TIPS FOR NAIL BITERS!

  1. Keep your nails polished. For some reason, a little polish seems to make you want to leave them alone!
  2. Keep your hands busy - so that you won't want to bite them.
  3. Get your nails done, you could get acrylic nails.
  4. Go to a pharmacy- they will probably have a special nail polish that tastes terrible so whenever you go to bite your nails, they taste so repulsive you won't wanna bite them anymore. (Or even try hot sauce.)
  5. Distract your mouth. Eat carrot sticks, or celery to keep you busy. Keeping gum in your purse or pocket, would work also. Just try to always keep something with you so you're not tempted to bite your nails.

Biting of your nails can cause:
  • Split & fractured nails.
  • Bleeding around the nails.
  • Infections.
  • Pain.
  • Unattractive finger nails.

TIPS ON HAIR STRAIGHTENING.

TIPS ON HAIR STRAIGHTENING.

  • Use a straightening serum.

  • Use hair straighteners with care, and use it sparingly. It can be very damaging if used often.
  • Blow drying Your Hair Straight - Always use a protective product when styling your hair straight. The best blow dryer is one with strong air flow, don't rely on one just because it gets really hot.
  • Having your hair colored and straightening your hair can result in damage to your hair. While they're damaging alone, when they are combined, they can be simply too much for your fragile hair to handle.

  • Here are some tips on keeping your hair healthy, while having it straight:

    1. Wash with a shampoo that will successfully remove buildup or at least one that is made to prevent it.
    2. Use a good conditioner that won't weigh your hair down.
    3. When you get out of the shower - try your hair as much as you can with a towel.
    4. Apply a little bit of straightening serum before you blow dry and while you're drying it with a towel.
    5. You can blow dry by slowly taking sections at a time, with a flat brush. It takes a while to get exactly how to straighten it, but it's definitely worth it!
    6. Try to use gel, cream, or serum to keep it straight and to take away the frizziness.

HOW TO CURL YOUR HAIR.

HOW TO CURL YOUR HAIR

  • Wait 24 hours after washing your hair. Keeping hair oily makes it easier to stay in the curl. If you must wash it, such as if your hair gets unbearably greasy, use only a very small amount of shampoo, and do not condition it.
  • Make time to curl your hair. If you want your hair curly the next day, start curling it the night before. Oftentimes, curls need time to "set."
  • Dampen your hair. If it is thick and stubborn, make it wetter, but it shouldn't be so loaded with water that it's dripping. Use a spray bottle filled with water as it'll allow you to better control the wetness. Apply a product to help hold the curl, making sure to avoid applying any on the scalp or roots because it might weigh it down too much. Mousse, gel, and hairspray are most commonly used. Try different products and brands. This step is optional, though, because some people find that they don't need products at this stage, especially if their hair has natural volume or waves.
  • Use one of the techniques below to curl your hair. Try them all until you find the one that works best for you. The one you choose will depend on your hair type and how it responds to being curled.

Techniques

Helpful tips

  • It is very difficult to curl long hair because it takes a long time to dry. The shorter, the easier.
  • Have someone help you curl your hair. It can be hard to see in the back.
  • If you want curled hair in a ponytail, put in the ponytail first. Then curl from there. It is very hard to pull curled hair into a ponytail if it isn't already.
  • If hair is taken out a few hours earlier than needed, it may droop. To prevent this, carefully secure your hair in a hairnet or bandanna.
  • Do not brush unless you absolutely need to or else your hair will frizz terribly. You can use a hair-sprayed brush -- that's it.

HELP THE LOST BOYS.

HELP THE LOST BOYS!!

Now I know this is a Fashion blog, but I felt the need to share this with you all. I'm sure you're probably thinking to yourself, "Who are the lost boys?" I'm about to explain to you who they are, and how you can help. Please take the time to read this - it's extremely heart breaking. "In 2001 before the attacks of 9/11, approximately 4,000 Sudanese Lost Boy and Girl refugees arrived in the United States. As victims of genocidal (un)civil war which has raged in Southern Sudan for over twenty years, they have spent the majority of their lives in refugee camps of Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda. Since the ages of 3 to 7, the tides of war have forced them to flee as groups of children through the deserts on thousand mile treks. Most have lost their parents and siblings, having seen them perish or killed before their eyes. They have survived war, thirst, starvation, and personal loss that has scarred their souls but never beat them. Now in their early twenties, the Lost Boys and Girls living in the United States embody the hope for their country’s future. Most are attending college while working several jobs to support their family members left in the camps. It is their hope that through their education, they will gain the knowledge and means to rebuild their country and save the lives of their loved ones left behind. "

I was fortunate enough to be able to meet one of the lost boys, his name was William Mayom. I am simply stunned at the fact that he got to where he is today, I believe him, along with every lost boy or girl is an inspiration to us all I've never seen so much drive in somebody, who is coming from nothing. Neither you, nor I can even begin to fathom what him, and so many other Africans had to go through. My heart goes out to them. William made me realize how much we take for granted, when theres people in the world that don't even have half the opportunities as we have - yet we still complain or don't take advantage of them.

Now, it's unrealistic to think that you can save everybody in the world, but you have no idea how far your little bit of help can go. These boys and girls are practically coming from nothing, and making everything they can of themselves. Next time you start to pity yourself, think of what they had to endure. They get barely any water, and food equivalent to a zip lock bag of corn to last them for fifteen days, NOW do you think you've got it bad? Exactly. You can help them though, there's more information about reaching out to them on the site. Even if you can't afford to donate money, you can always donate other things needed.

APPLYING CONCEALER.

How do you apply concealer!?

Step 1 - Put a small amount on your fourth fingertip and dot it on, moving from the outside corner of the eye inward, and back out again. The most important and easily overlooked place to put concealer is the inner corner of your top lid. Put a bit slightly below your dark circles to avoid the raccoon-like look.

Step 2 - You can apply concealer over or under foundation, but no matter which way you choose, be sure to blend, blend and blend. If you prefer, use a triangular makeup sponge to blend in a gentle back-and-forth dotting motion. Do not pull or rub; you will stretch your delicate thin skin!

Step 3 - After applying, smile into the mirror and check that it is evenly applied and hasn't crept into the little lines around your eyes. If that happens, blot gently with a tissue.

CONCEALER APPLYING TIP: Some makeup artists swear by concealer brushes, but you may get the best and most even coverage if you apply concealer with your fourth finger. The fourth finger exerts
